Privacy Policy

Bouken is a travel-planning and sharing app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party advertising or tracking.
What we collect
- Account info: your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google when you sign in.
- Trip content: the trips, itineraries, notes, bookings, and similar details you create.
- Photos: photos you choose to upload to a trip, including their embedded date and GPS location (used to place the photo on your trip map). Photos are stored as private objects in Cloudflare R2.
- Social & messaging content: your public profile, and any comments, trip chats, and direct messages you send to other people in the app.
- Approximate location (optional): only if you turn on the Travel Assistant, your device location is used on-device to notify you when you are near a planned activity. It is not stored on our servers.
- Usage data: basic, aggregate analytics about how the app is used — for example, app opens and which screens are viewed — so we can improve it.
How we use it
Only to provide the app: to show your trips, place your photos on the map, share a trip when you explicitly create a share link, and optionally generate AI trip suggestions (destination briefs, phrasebooks) from the text you enter. We never use your data for advertising.
Who we share it with
Service providers that make the app work: Apple and Google (sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting and photo storage), and AI providers (Anthropic, Google) for the optional trip-suggestion features — these receive only the trip text needed to answer, not your photos. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone. We share a trip’s contents only when you create a share link for it.
Your choices & data deletion
You can delete any photo or trip in the app at any time. You can also permanently delete your entire account and all associated data directly in the app — open your account settings and tap Delete Account, which takes effect immediately. If you prefer, email [email protected] and we will remove your account and data.
Security & retention
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on access-controlled infrastructure. We keep your data while your account is active and delete it on request as described above.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
